Everyone has the power to change. To survive change. To lead change and be a Changemaker. I did it. And so can you”

Yesvember – National Adoption & Permanency Awareness Month
Adopt Change’s first National Adoption Awareness Month (NAAM) was in 2008, with the aim of shining a light on the critical issues and systemic challenges facing vulnerable children in Australia. These days, NAAM or #Yesvember is an annual event designed to raise awareness of the importance of permanency for children, and educate key stakeholders on the support needs of children and families. Throughout #Yesvember, the community is asked to support the work of Adopt Change in ensuring #AHomeForEveryChild. It’s an opportunity to bring decision makers, educators, child welfare sector, broader community, and the media together to focus on key issues surrounding adoption and permanency.

Online Loungerooms
In response to the pressure COVID-19 lockdowns placed on households, in March 2020, a unique initiative called “online loungerooms”, was designed to engage with vulnerable families. These virtual face-to-face sessions helped navigate the challenges of parenting during the pandemic and learning from home. Topics included talking with kids about hygiene and self-isolation while supporting kids with trauma. Designed to provide support and guidance for carers across Australia, the online loungerooms enabled up to 20 carers to talk to each other at a time, as well as hear from a subject matter expert and a 20-minute question and answer session.
