National Adoption Awareness Week 2016
National Adoption Awareness Week (NAAW) exists to raise awareness of adoption and the importance of permanency for children, along with providing education on the support needs of children and families.
National Adoption Awareness Week 2016
6 – 12 November
NAAW aims to increase insight and understanding through a series of specialist and community-based events exploring the experiences of children and families through local and intercountry adoption and promote reform of Australian adoption laws and practices to facilitate a community that looks after our most vulnerable – our children.
What’s on during NAAW this year?
This year we are focusing on raising awareness of the situation for displaced children in Australia and the need for all children to have a permanent, stable, loving home. Keep an eye out for campaign during NAAW.
We are also focusing on the importance of trauma informed care and pre- and post- support services for children and families, and the increasing need for this in Australia in the coming years.
We have Dr Mandy Howard as our international guest, to speak on several topics surrounding Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).
